Lagoon 45 — Ribodo — Custom Catamaran Solar Arch

This stainless steel solar arch for a Lagoon 45 catamaran was commissioned in 2022. The client, who had recently purchased the vessel, chose to equip it with a high-performance solar arch to enable off-grid sailing and immediately sailed it to our facility at Hayling Yacht Co for installation. Designed to support 5 × 440W LG BiFacial solar panels, the arch balances strength and aesthetics with a curved stainless steel frame. The curved design increases structural integrity while offering a sleek look, and the solar panels are mounted straight to optimise solar energy capture. To accommodate workspace limitations, the solar arch was fabricated in three sections, then seamlessly joined and polished to a mirror finish on site. Since the Lagoon 45 was moored nearby, the entire stainless steel frame — including transom legs — was welded as a single piece on site to ensure strength and durability. The middle ladder-style frame was necessary to support the frame at the stern. Despite the compact workshop setting, the fabrication process went smoothly, with installation completed in just two days. Following installation, the vessel Ribodo was ready for extended off-grid sailing powered by clean solar energy.
