Hanse 575 — Valkiry Single Frame Solar Arch

This Hanse 575 Custom Single Frame Solar Arch was developed in close collaboration with our client, who sought an efficient way to generate solar power while maintaining aesthetic appearance. The client's requirements included the ability to tilt the solar panels for maximum energy capture, integration with the existing pushpit, and an extended safety rail running to the stanchion gate. It was important that the design remain compact, smart-looking, and complementary to the yacht's lines. A single fitting antenna bracket was added to the top of the frame on the starboard side, while a key safety feature — the life raft cradle with automatic rope cutter — was incorporated into the system for added security at sea. The fabrication process for this arch was smooth, resulting in an elegant and neat installation. During final adjustments, it was discovered that individual solar panels attached directly to swivel brackets exhibited some wobble and were uncomfortable to adjust. To resolve this, an additional aluminium support frame was installed, linking the panels to the swivel brackets and supporting both simultaneously. This modification improved the stability and ease-of-use for the tilting function, ensuring the panels are now well supported and simple to adjust. The completed project successfully met all requirements, delivering both clean aesthetics and reliable functionality for efficient off-grid solar power. This unique, minimalistic design is now part of our range and available to other sailors seeking a similar solution.
