Dufour 430 — Valkiry Solar Arch
Quick Summary
Design Type
Valkiry (Custom/High Spec)
Our next standout project features the beautiful Dufour 430 Solar Arch, a special order from Universal Yachting. Our task was to create a stylish arch capable of carrying 3 × Solbian SP130 flexible solar panels, integrating a davit system able to lift a 120–170kg dinghy with a 20HP outboard engine, seamlessly merging with the existing pushpit, and providing an outboard crane to handle the heavy motor. One of the most important criteria was that the arch's design had to match the shape of the Bimini frame perfectly, working together smoothly. The Bimini frame was in production with Tecsew. We collaborated closely with John, who came fully prepared and equipped, utilising advanced technology like 3D scanning and CAD drawings to facilitate precise engineering. For our design, we used Tecsew's 3D drawings, adapting all the shapes and adjusting tube sizes to precisely suit the Bimini shapes. A highlight of the project was the electric winch with a single-rope davit system, enabling the client to lift his dinghy and outboard (approximately 130kg combined) with ease. The arch measures just under 4 metres in width and is fabricated entirely from OD50mm tube with 2mm thick walls. The end result was exciting — the arch and Bimini frame merged naturally into a seamless integration. The arch and deployable davit system handle the heavy dinghy and motor effortlessly and without compromise.
