Throwback to 2022—when we were building two Yacht Solar Arches side by side… in a workshop barely big enough for one ⚙️⛵️ We didn’t even have a tube bender back then—so we loaded up the van and drove to Southampton, where our friends at Aldens Sheet Metal kindly let us use theirs. Proper legends 🙌 Every inch of space was a challenge. Every weld, a small victory. What you don’t see in this video is the 2x2m room that served as our office, canteen, and changing room—all in one 😅 Lunchtimes were spent dreaming about the future—about having a proper workshop, and building things we could truly be proud of. Looking back now, it wasn’t easy—but we wouldn’t change a thing. The sailboat has a pretty, curvy design and I was dreading having an arch of straight steels which would have ruined the look. After talking to a couple of company's I chanced on LatBros(Yacht Solar Arches)and am really pleased that I did. Stas really understood what we were trying to achieve and that the arch needed to look elegant as well as functional. We're really pleased with the end result. They're real artists in steel and created an arch made up of gently curved steel which looks brilliant from the side, from on board and from aft. Solar panels are now fitted and the tender hauled out of the water. Our thinking was that this is a one-off project for us - we're never going to replace the arch, so we'd better get it right first time.
